Install Mo Dokan
About two minutes. You need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and about 500 MB of free disk space. Nothing else has to be installed first, and no internet is needed once Mo Dokan is installed.
Download
- Open the download page and click Download. The setup file, MoDokan-Setup-1.0.0.exe, comes from Google Drive.
- Google Drive says it can't scan this file for viruses — it only scans files under 100 MB. Click Download anyway.
- If your browser says the file “isn't commonly downloaded”: in Chrome click Keep; in Edge click … → Keep → Show more → Keep anyway.
Check the file is genuine (optional)
Open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run Get-FileHash .\MoDokan-Setup-1.0.0.exe.
The code it prints must match the fingerprint on the download page:

Run the setup
- Double-click the setup file. Windows shows a blue box, Windows protected your PC, because Mo Dokan is new and has no paid publisher certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway.
- Choose who can use it:
- Install for all users — everyone on this PC. Windows asks to allow changes (the publisher shows as Unknown); click Yes.
- Install for me only — no administrator password needed. Good on an office PC where you are not an administrator.
- Tick Create a desktop shortcut if you want one, click Install, then Finish with Start Mo Dokan ticked.
Next: the first start — trial and licence.
Where things are kept
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| The program | C:\Program Files\Mo Dokan (all users) or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Mo Dokan (only me) |
| Your companies | %LOCALAPPDATA%\MoDokan\Companies — one folder per company, each with its own Backups folder |
| The licence | C:\ProgramData\MoDokan\License |
RuleSetup and uninstall never touch your companies, backups or licence. Only the program files change.
Update to a new version
- Download the new setup and run it the same way. If Mo Dokan is open, setup closes it first.
- The program is replaced; your companies and licence stay.
- The first time you open each company after an update, Mo Dokan takes a backup of it, then upgrades it (“Backing up before upgrading…”). The backup can be restored from the company list if you ever need the old copy.
Older versionsA company opened by a newer version cannot be opened by an older one — Mo Dokan refuses rather than damage it. Always move forward to the newest version.
Uninstall
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Mo Dokan → Uninstall. Your companies, backups and licence are kept, so installing again later picks up where you left off.
Move to a new computer
- On the old computer, back up each company: company list → Backup. Copy the .mdbak files to a pen drive. (See Back up.)
- Install Mo Dokan on the new computer and choose Activate a licence or start the trial.
- Company list → Restore → choose each .mdbak file.
- A licence belongs to one computer. Send us the new computer's code from the Licence screen and we move your licence to it (see New computer).
